Cowboys of Moo Mesa

I found this hillarious blog entry for the Top 5 ninja turtle rip offs of the 90's that I thought was so funny I had to post it. My favorite one being the cowboys of moo mesa. All the notes this guy wrote about the shows are so funny. One of which being this "There was also a villainous bull, a “sexy” cow-damsel that the cowboys tussled over, and an adorable calf-boy sidekick for comic relief." All in all a good read. Another good quote from the part on the samurai pizza cats "Much like the Power Rangers, this was originally a Japanese show that was given English voiceovers so terrible it was almost racist." so funny.

The Truth VS Religion

The more time I spend reading articles like this one about a christian turned atheist the more I become an atheist my self and am disgusted by religion. The idea that we have to fear going to some place called hell and would have to worship some power hungry bastard so we can serve him for eternity in heaven is so mind boggling for me to even imagine. My first year of school was in a catholic school and I remember it as one of the worst years of my life. Its no wonder that the world is so fucked up and everyone is killing each other over beliefs and fake gods. Mankind would have been so much better off if we never imagined god. The truth is that religion was invented to control the masses which it did and the rich got richer and the poor got poorer. I read a great quote from Mark Twain the other day that said "Religion was invented when the first con man met the first fool".

Giger Uppercut

If anyones ever seen the alien movies or the movie species you've seen H.R.Gigers work. Gigers work resembles a mix of man and machine in some futuristic distopian world. Its unbelievable the skill involved in his drawings and the imagination behind the work itself. Not only credited for the movies mentioned above Giger was also involved in Album Art, Sculpture, Many paintings, and Interior Design for his own Museum in Switzerland which displays many of his works.

Finally found this pair of nike's Ive been trying to find for the last couple of weeks. I went to so many stores around town and the only ones I could find were just ridiculous colour combos and never just plain old black in white. I found these and I Im stoked on seeing how they hold up.

Why new music sucks

This video and this wiki article Loudness war pretty much explain and prove why I dislike most music that has been released in the last 10 years. I always thought it was the bands that sounded like shit but it turns out that the record labels were altering the final product and turning up the overall loudness which distorts the sound and dynamic range. Read the page and watch the video to learn more. Pretty interesting for sure.

Real Ultimate Power

I like many people in the world am a huge Ninja fan and there is no better website for factual Ninja knowledge than Realultimatepower.net This has to be the best site for Ninja lovers ever. With lines like this you know its good "Ninjas can kill anyone they want! Ninjas cut off heads ALL the time and don't even think twice about it. These guys are so crazy and awesome that they flip out ALL the time. I heard that there was this ninja who was eating at a diner. And when some dude dropped a spoon the ninja killed the whole town. My friend Mark said that he saw a ninja totally uppercut some kid just because the kid opened a window."

Conceptart.org

Conceptart.org is a sick website showing many artists work from around the world. When I was in school I used to look at this site a lot for inspiration. There's so much good stuff on the site. Have a look for sure.

Wolverine

I have always been a huge Wolverine fan since I was a kid. Seriously how could you not like this character? Claws, Extreme agility, indestructible bones, super healing power, and a really bad temper. With the new Wolverine movie coming out in a while I thought I would showcase some sick drawings I have found on the net of him.

I love violence in art and this pretty much takes the cake.

10 Dimensions

Such a good video trying to explain the 10 dimensions of all things.

The Zone

I was talking to my old man the other day about not being able to pay attention to anything for long and he was telling me about trying to find interest in things that put me into the "zone" so to speak. I didn't realize but there is actually something called Flow Psychology. There was originally a psychologist named Mihály Csíkszentmihályi who did a study on "flow" in 1975. The people he was studying used the metaphor that they felt like a water current was carrying them along through their task thus the term "flow" was born meaning to be absorbed in whatever you are doing. His report found that when people were in the zone they had a higher sense of things, faster thinking, and rarely made mistakes. I found this interesting because I have always felt that any job I have had that I was good at or good days riding BMX or anything I really like doing as getting into the "zone" where you lose your sense of time and everything seems like one task instead of multiple tasks you just know what needs to be done and you do it. I'm sure everyone has felt like this at some time in their life. Now the real task is to find a way to get into the zone on things I'm not interested in...

George Bridgeman

When I was in school I took a life drawing class. My teacher would bring in works from various artists he knew about and one of them I remember having a really unique clean style was the works of Canadian/American artist George Brigeman.

Bridgeman Was born in 1865 and lived until 1943. He was known for basing his life drawings off of cubes rather than spheres like most other artist who drew the human form at the time. This in my opinion makes the figures stand out and appear more like drawings that you would see in comic books or graphic novels who have character. Bridgeman was a world acclaimed art teacher who taught for 45 years and also wrote some 6 books on figure drawing and human anatomy.

Death

A few years ago I was randomly watching much musics show Power 30 which was their half an hour metal video slot. At this point in time George Stroumboulopoulos hosted the show and as most people know he is very knowledgeable on many topics including music. Anyways, he read some fan letter about how they always played lame nu metal videos and never played anything good from the early 90's. His comeback to that was to introduce me and most likely many others to a not so well known metal band who went by the name of "Death" arguably coining the "death metal" genre. The song was "lack of comprehension"

Now I was already a big metal fan but had never really given death metal a real chance because a lot of the death metal I had heard sounded like it was recorded in a tin can but this was different. I was instantly hooked. Right after I heard lack of comprehension I needed to know more about the band and why I had only just know discovered them. After a long search on the net I was able to find the official Death website called Empty Words which is a song on a Death album. On this site I was able to pretty much learn everything about the band including that its creator and lead singer/lead guitarist Chuck Shuldiner had died of brain cancer in 2001. Chuck being the only original member of the band was an amazing inspirational guitar player. I went on to find and listen to almost all of Deaths albums. Concluding that this was now maybe my favorite metal band. The technical solos performed by Chuck are unlike anything I have ever heard. I would highly suggest picking up some Death albums or at least going to the website to see what they were all about. Its a great website built by Chucks family to spread his word.

Metal Album Cover Art

Well as a first real post I wanted to give a tribute to all the not so well known artists out there who have given us all detailed pictures of rugged, gore filled, sacrificial, apocalyptic wastelands that only the cover art of Metal albums can by having a glimpse into their minds then letting us imagine the rest thanks to songs with names such as "Meat Hook Sodomy" "Edible Autopsy" or "Bacterial Surgery". My hat's off to you guys.

this is it

I'm starting this blog so I can write about things I see around me, show art I'm interested in, websites I find, or just post anything I might find interesting or funny that's worth writing about.
